ABOUT US

 Joelle Simpson, MD, MPH and Tress Goodwin, MD are pediatric emergency physicians with expertise in disaster medicine. They created PDP Docs to help child-centered businesses and institutions navigate the complexities of disaster management. Their combined education and experience comprise higher degrees from the universities of Harvard, Stanford, George Washington, Georgetown, as well as completed service with the U.S. military and advanced training in public health. They are ready to offer unique insights into the vital and often overlooked role of children in disaster preparedness and recovery planning.

  • Harvard University undergraduate (B.S.) 
  • George Washington University School of Medicine  (M.D.)
  •  Founded the Pediatric Medical Reserve Corp of DC - a team of medical volunteers trained in disaster  management
  •  Executive committee member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Disaster Preparedness and Recovery    
  • National Biodefense Science Board (NBSB) member    
  • Extensive experience designing and executing large scale disaster drills or table top exercises in health systems and in the community with multiple partners and city agencies.

  • Pediatric and adult emergency medicine physician 
  • Assistant Director for Emergency Preparedness at Children’s National Hospital and is the Assistant Incident Commander for the COVID response. 
  • Stanford University undergraduate (B.A) and medical degree (M.D.)
  • Emergency Medicine residency training at Georgetown University
  • 5 years as M.D. in the US Navy, including a combat deployment to Afghanistan in 2015
  • Instructor with USUHS in military medicine, combat medical skills, and disaster scenarios
  • Experience in terrorism research
  • Assistant Professor at George Washington University and Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences
